Summer Skin Care Tips
We are always seeking ways to slow down the aging process and reverse sun damage. Whether it be hyperpigmentation, wrinkles, under eye circles, etc., there are many options available today to rejuvenate your skin. Prevention is also important, and here are a few quick tips from Dr. Sarraga to stay proactive.
Use a skincare regimen designed for your individual needs:
It’s beneficial to use a skincare regimen whether you have dry, oily, or combination skin. Dr Sarraga has a staff of medical estheticians who can suggest recommendations for your specific type of skin. Purchasing skincare from a physicians office will most likely always contain a higher concentration of active ingredients which include peptides, hyaluronic acid, retinols, and alpha hydroxy acids, and antioxidants.
Eat a healthy diet and stay well hydrated:
By now, we all understand the importance of a healthy diet. The skin is the biggest organ and what we eat will show positive or negative results on the complexion. Leafy greens and red and dark orange vegetables contain powerful antioxidants which protect your skin and keep it smooth. Fish such as wild salmon and even eggs contain omega 3 fatty acids which fight inflammation. Nuts and seeds are loaded with vitamin E and help protect our skin from damaging agents such as pollution. Since our skin cells are made up mostly water, skin will look dehydrated if we are not consuming the right amount of water daily!
Applying sunblock to your skin is extremely important. Don’t confuse sunscreen with sunblock. Sunscreens alone will not fully protect. Please use a UVA/UVB sunblock that contains zinc oxide, and or titanium dioxide. These are the most beneficial to blocking out damaging rays. In terms of degree of protection, Dr. Sarraga recommends to use 30 SPF and above.
We also offer several procedures that assist in reducing the signs of aging, as well as ongoing maintenance procedures for healthy skin.
HydraFacials and traditional microdermabrasions:
The HydraFacial is a unique and amazing treatment. It has multiple steps from cleaning, exfoliating, and extracting impurities, while at the same time, quenching the skin with antioxidants, peptides, and hyaluronic acid. The results are immediate and long lasting with no downtime!
Fraxel Laser with Platelet Rich Plasma:
The fractional laser treatment works below the skin’s surface from the top down, addressing fine lines, wrinkles, scarring, and age spots. Fraxel light energy light stimulates your skins natural collagen, rejuvenating skin cells below the surface to help smooth out the creases that cause wrinkles and scars. The PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) not only minimizes recovery but also works by enhancing collagen production and skin tightening.
Microneedling or collagen induction therapy is done with a device that makes controlled tiny punctures into the skin. These micro wounds trigger the bodies healing process to produce new collagen and elastin with the dermis. The procedure is very effective for fine lines, wrinkles, and acne scars.
From alpha hydroxy acids to chemical peels, these treatments have been performed for many years to treat sun and age spots, damaged skin, melasma, and some types of acne. They work by removing the superficial layer of damaged skin and can be done at different depths from shallow to deep.
For people who are struggling with severe wrinkles, deep scars, and rough skin texture, this CO2 ablative laser was created to provide powerful results.
These are just a few of the many procedures Dr Sarraga offers in his practice. Schedule your consultation today and find out which options are best for you!
