Dr. Sárraga was born and raised in Puerto Rico, where he spent most of his life. He decided at a very early age to follow in his grandfather’s footsteps and pursue a career in the art of medicine and surgery. Dr. Sárraga has been featured in several publications including Aventura Magazine™ and Healthy Valley® Magazine where he has discussed procedures including Facial Rejuvenation and Breast Surgery. Dr. Sárraga has been awarded one of Castle Connolly’s top doctors in Miami for the last 5 years. He has also been featured with his friend and mentor Dr. Storch. Since Dr. Storch’s retirement, Dr. Sárraga now runs ARTIS Institute Plastic Surgery as a single practitioner.

WHAT IS COOLSCULPTING® ELITE?
CoolSculpting® is one of the most in-demand body contouring solutions available today. The innovative technology targets and destroys fat cells, leaving surrounding tissues wholly intact and healthy. The entire procedure is completed without needles or incisions and uses two comfortable panels placed against the skin of the treatment area, plus it’s completely scarless.
This treatment is very versatile and is able to treat many areas of the body including the chin, abdomen, flanks, bra fat, back and flanks, lower buttock, inner knees, and inner and outer thighs. CoolSculpting® has recently updated all of its applicators (CoolAdvantage), including one to treat the double chin (submental fat)! Treatments now only take as little as 35 minutes (vs 1 hour with the old applicators) and are significantly more comfortable for an overall better treatment experience. These newly designed applicators treat a larger area, so fewer treatments are needed to achieve the results you want!
We have exciting news! CoolSculpting® has recently introduced the new CoolSculpting® Advantage applicator specifically designed to treat the upper arms! Over 14 million people voted arm fat the 3rd most troubling area on their body. Now Dr. Sarraga can help you take care of that pesky underarm fat with this new FDA-cleared Coolsculpting® Arm Applicator. The ARTIS Institute for Plastic Surgery is currently the only practice in the area offering this new technology, and we have two machines to treat two areas at the same time!
Our facility provides a comfortable and private experience with a dedicated state-of-the-art room for CoolSculpting®. We have treated hundreds of patients since 2013 and as a plastic surgery full-service facility we are able to offer other options for body contouring.
During your treatment, the applicators are placed over the desired area. They lightly suction up fatty soft tissue to deliver treatment. During the procedure, fat cells are exposed to freezing temperatures. After the treatment is done, fat cells undergo cryolipolysis. The treated cells eventually die and are naturally expelled from the body. Surrounding nerves, skin, and other tissues are left undamaged, meaning less trauma and downtime and minimized discomfort and bruising. The areas remain soft and scarless and some patients may experience some skin tightening.
After their procedure, patients will notice a slimming effect and reduction of bumpy fat pockets in the treated areas. Results can take anywhere from a few weeks to a few months to take full effect. Fat deposits are less likely to return, so treated areas usually stay slim. Results are typically long-lasting and can be further enhanced with regular exercise and a healthy diet. For our patients who want to achieve more dramatic results or are treating a slightly larger problem area, follow-up treatments may be recommended.
AM I A GOOD CANDIDATE?
During your initial visit, you will undergo a thorough evaluation to determine if CoolSculpting® Elite is right for you. Despite its widespread popularity, CoolSculpting® Elite is not for everyone. The procedure will not render results as dramatic as surgical fat removal, like traditional liposuction, can achieve. It can, however, be combined with a variety of supplement body contouring services for an even smoother, slimmed-down effect.
CoolSculpting® Elite is not for extremely obese patients or patients who have a large amount of excess skin as a result of massive weight loss. Good candidates have maintained a stable weight for some time but have been unable to smooth problem areas through healthy lifestyle habits.
