What is Sculptra?
Sculptra is an FDA-approved injectable to help replace lost collagen in the face. Most commonly used to treat smile lines, marionette lines, and chin wrinkles, Sculptra is made up of poly-L-lactic acid to help replace this lost collagen. By replacing this collagen that has been lost over time, Sculptra can give patients gradual, natural-looking results for a younger facial appearance.
To see best results, most patients will require an average of three injection sessions over the course of a few months. A consultation with Dr. Sarraga can help to determine the number of treatment sessions needed to provide the youthful appearance you desire.
Patients who are allergic to any of Sculptra’s ingredients or who have an active skin infection or inflammation in the treatment are or those who have a history of keloid formation or hypertrophic scarring should avoid these injections. A consultation is always the best way to determine if this treatment is right for your individual goals.
Following injections, patients may experience some initial swelling and bruising, though this should resolve within the first 49-72 hours. A cold compress can help to reduce any swelling. Patients can also apply makeup several hours after treatment to cover any bruising.
While some results may be visible within the first few weeks of treatment, Sculptra will deliver full effects over the course of a few months. Results can last up to two years.
